Noro scarf

Winter is a great time to take stock of what I want for the garden next year. And what I want is to take the time to make new beds while letting others mature a bit in peace. Yesterday I recycled all my seed catalogues, too distracting. I need to focus on the bones of the garden, I will simply get my annuals from Red Butte.

Winter is also a great time to do other things, weave and dye… I am having a blast at both. The scarf below was woven with the Japanese yarn Noro Kyreyon as the warp, with its repeats clearly separated and Brown Sheep nature spun wool in the weft. The draft is a block twill but the treadling is basketweave. Together they create a lot of “organic” texture.
